Ownership Through Scale and Exploration.

Inspired by Southern schoolhouses, the kindergarten organizes classrooms along a continuous wraparound porch, giving each classroom direct outdoor access. Circulation is kept simple and legible, allowing children to move intuitively through the building in line with Montessori learning principles or independent exploration. Varying scales; from larger, shared spaces to more intimate, child sized-spaces; create an environment where children can take ownership of their surroundings.
